GAME GUIDES
Building a team for the Cups
One star can win a match. A Cup team needs several ways to win a tie.
Choose the lineup you want to build
The Thomas Cup mode uses three men's singles slots and two men's doubles slots. The Uber Cup uses three women's singles and two women's doubles slots. The Sudirman Cup combines men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
Each format therefore gives you five parts of a team to think about. Thomas and Uber reward depth across singles and doubles. Sudirman asks you to cover every discipline. Fill the required positions during the draft and use the lineup screen to check the team before entering competition.
Matches, rubbers, and ties
A rubber is one match between the teams. A tie is the full meeting between those teams. Winning a rubber adds one to your team's tally, regardless of whether the match took two games or three.
For example, winning two singles rubbers and one doubles rubber gives a team the three wins needed to decide a five-rubber tie. The game plays all five rubbers in group ties. In the knockout stage, a tie stops when one team has three wins, so some drafted players may not need to take the court.
Follow both the lineup and the tournament
The group standings tell you how your team is progressing towards the knockout bracket. Inside each tie, the rubber results show where the contest was won or lost. Open a rubber to follow the same rally playback used in individual matches; speeding it up or skipping to the result does not change the outcome.
When reviewing a defeat, look beyond the biggest name. A close loss in one slot and a comfortable win in another can suggest a different draft priority for your next run. Balanced coverage gives you more routes to three wins, but there is still room for an underdog team to surprise you.
A game version of the Cups
You can explore national teams or a mixed-country legends roster. Historical cards bring different generations together, so these tournaments are imagined competitions. The lineups, draws, and results do not reproduce a particular real Cup edition or claim to follow every edition's regulations.
